Foundered in 1968 before safety precautions, such as armco barriers
and Probans, the Busby Marshalling Team was set up by Dave Busby who signed up to marshal at race meetings at Croft
Autodrome as a way to get closer to the action and get a better view than the suckers who had parted with
their hard-earned cash.
It wasn't long before Dave recruited his younger - and balder - brother
Paul to join in the Sunday fun. As ever, Paul was with his mate Phil (AKA Kenny, though i'm still unsure why!) at the time
so he was dragged along for the fun.
Fast-forward to 1986 when Richard became old enough to follow in the
family bootsteps & he too joined the team, as a flag marshal.
Somewhere along the line i (Andy) got press-ganged into giving
up all-night parties in return for standing in the cold and rain, waiting impatiently for a fire to warm me up!
So, with five members already doing a stella job of manning an entire
post with an Observer, two Course/Incident Marshals, Flag Marshal, and a Fire/Incident Marshal, you would think we had
enough but oh no, we now have a new member Robert Busby! He too will be providing Course/Incident Marshal support to our now
well-endowed team!
